The lower half: Pants fit for a human body

Covering the bottom half of one's body usually means donning a pair of pants, trousers, breeches (britches) or some other way to encase both legs while having a way of staying up. An alternative it to wrap both in a skirt, dress, kilt, lava-lava or sarong, but for men, that's not generally a choice. History records the first sightings of pants in the sixth century BCE with the horse-riding Persians. Romans tended to sneer at trouser-wearing barbarians.
